When a citizen of a foreign country that abides by the Hague
authentication treaty is married in Las Vegas, proof of the
marriage consists of a certified copy of the marriage certificate
(proof that the marriage ceremony was performed) and an
Apostille. Some countries may also require a certified copy of
the marriage application (license) as well. Please check with the
appropriate agency in your country.
The marriage official who performs the ceremony has ten days
to submit the marriage certificate to this office for recording.
Normally a certified copy of the certificate would be available one
day after the certificate has been received from the
official.
The cost for a certified copy of a marriage certificate is
$7.00 per copy. An International Money Order (in
U.S. Dollars payable through a U.S. bank) should
be made payable to the Clark County Recorder.
The cost for an Apostille is $20.00 each. The money order for
the Apostille (in U.S. Dollars
payable through a U.S. bank) should
however, be made payable to the Secretary of State. This Office
will mail the certified copy of the marriage certificate and the
money order for the Apostille to the Secretary of State.
Please note: The Secretary of State also offers the following
expedited service options:
A 24-hour Apostille turn around time for a total cost to the
Secretary of State of $45.00;
A 4 hour turn around time (if received by 1:00 P.M. Pacific
Time) for a total cost to the Secretary of State of $70.00.
The Secretary of State's Office will forward the Apostille and
certified copy of the marriage certificate to the couple or
foreign consulate.
